Paro Taktsang or Tigers Nest as it is commonly known, is a sacred Vajrayana Himalayan Buddhist monastery that was built high up into a cliffside in the Paro valley in Bhutan in 1692. It commemorates the place where Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche,) the monk who brought Buddhism to Bhutan from Tibet, meditated with his students. Road Scholar Best of Bhutan tour.
